MONDAY MORNING MUSEUM UPDATE – July 17, 2023

In this week’s update: Christmas in July items still for sale, Pavilion renovation work, Kids Scavenger Hunt, and more!

In our weekly update, keep up to date on what staff and volunteers at the Lindsborg Old Mill & Swedish Heritage Museum are working on to lift up the history of Lindsborg and the surrounding region. This weekly update both looks back at what happened last week and looks ahead at what’s coming.

For July 10-16, 2023:

  • Christmas in July was last Saturday, but it’s not too late to come and enjoy the new holiday products we released last weekend! Available only in the gift shop, we have the release of a new ice cream flavor – Old Mill Mint – developed in collaboration with Lindsborg’s own local shop of IndigoMoo’d. It’s a wonderful combination of crushed peppermint candy and Oreo cookies in peppermint ice cream.
Also, available both online and in person at the gift shop, we have one of the most-requested new gift shop items with a commemorative wooden ornament, created by LBK Laser Designs. Find it here: www.oldmillmuseum.org/product/old-mill-holiday-ornament.
We also have two new holiday card designs by a local Lindsborg youth artist, featuring snowscapes of the Swedish Pavilion (www.oldmillmuseum.org/product/swedish-pavilion-christmas-card) and the Old Mill (www.oldmillmuseum.org/product/old-mill-christmas-card).
  • Lots of work has been happening on the 1904 World’s Fair Swedish Pavilion!
First, Wray Roofing was here last Tuesday morning to fix a roof leak above the Pavilion balcony area.

Next, KenJax Painting (McPherson) started last week on fully repainting the Pavilion! The building is coming along great!

Finally, our Museum Handy Crew has been working on repair of the Pavilion’s historic-reproduction picket fence! Our Museum Handy Crew comes together every Tuesday morning starting at 9 a.m. putting their talents to work making important repairs, restoration, and ongoing maintenance across the museum!

  • Say Hello to “Wheatley the Wheatstalk”!
We have a great new way for kids to enjoy the museum with a free Kids’ Scavenger Hunt adventure! Find the answers to a few questions from across the museum grounds, and kids can choose a prize at the museum gift shop!

  • Speaking of our younger guests, families with kids can get FREE museum entry (as well as more than 120 other attractions across the State of Kansas) with the Sunflower Summer program! Download the app today at www.sunflowersummer.org!

Thanks to Our Weekly Volunteers!
