In our weekly update, keep up to date on what staff and volunteers at the Lindsborg Old Mill & Swedish Heritage Museum are working on to lift up the history of Lindsborg and the surrounding region. This weekly update both looks back at what happened last week and looks ahead at what’s coming.
For January 21-26, 2025:
- It’s this week! “Are YOU the Family Archivist? (What to Do With ALL That Family Stuff?!)” is a fantastic hourlong presentation by Sue Schlichting of Pursuing YOUR Past. The session is scheduled for THIS Saturday, February 1 and is just $10 for non-members or FREE for museum members!
- Coming up on Saturday, February 8, is our next presentation in the FREE online Historical Speaker Series! Karen Humphrey will speak on Alma Luise Olson – a Lindsborg resident and Bethany graduate who became a New York Times correspondent headquartered in Sweden! The presentation is open to the first 100 people to register HERE.
Alma Luise Olson - Aubrey worked on the museum’s 2025 budget and development plan.
- Aubrey sent out emails to potential Millfest sponsors, vendors, and schools (for Millfest for Kids). She also reached out to potential partners for some additional Millfest attractions.
- Aubrey worked on the museum’s next mini-exhibit with a high school volunteer.
- Aubrey continued working with Display Studios on the renovations to the Swedish Immigration exhibit made possible under the SPRINT grant funding.
- Adam processed six renewing memberships. He also made calls to memberships that have lapsed. You can renew your membership today at www.oldmillmuseum.org/members.
- We continue to be participants in the Lindsborg Cultural Crawl! Earn a passport stamp for becoming a member or visiting the museum. The Salina Journal had a great story about the Crawl HERE.
- Adam made several regular updates to the website.
- Adam prepared several charts to aid us in talking about the 2025 budget and museum funding.
- Lenora met with several members of the community to plan a recorded oral history about Riverside Station.
- Lenora worked on the Q4 SPRINT grant report due at the end of January.

- Registration is open for the next Swedish Genealogy workshop on February 15, 2025! We’re very excited to have a new addition this time to the featured speakers – Maureen Taylor, the Photo Detective!
- We have started to take reservations for Millfest for Kids on Friday, May 2! Get in touch if your school or homeschool group would like to participate.
- NOW OPEN: “Skeleton-Of-Dog… Selected Geology & Natural History Artifacts from the Bethany College Collection Archives” is a temporary mini-exhibit at the museum featuring some unique artifacts not seen in public for decades!
